Description

This is a very simple Mandelbrot generator. I wrote it on a whim one afternoon because I'd always wanted to write one, and I wanted to play with OCaml. It simply generates a Mandelbrot according to some parameters that you supply.

There is a lot that it doesn't do that many other generators do:

Source: smg-1.0.tar.bz2 (8 KB)
PPC Linux binary: smg-1.0.tar.bz2 (76 KB)

Installation

To build SMG, you need an OCaml compiler. Then download SMG and unpack it with bzip2. If you downloaded the source, you can compile it under Unix by typing make. Now you're all ready -- just run it as shown below.

SMG has been tested with Obective Caml version 3.01 on LinuxPPC. If you would like to send me your data point, please do.

Usage

Usage is as follows:
smg x_min x_max y_min y_max width height iterations
For example:
smg -2 1 -1.5 1.5 512 384 25
smg -0.4 0.2 -1. -0.7 300 200 30
The program generates the fractal, then prints out processor usage statistics, waits until you press return, and quits.
